Out & About

Our Location Areas

Ocho Rios (Spanish for “Eight Rivers”) is a town in the parish of Saint Ann on the north coast of Jamaica. Just outside the Town, travellers and residents can visit Columbus Park (where Columbus supposedly first came on land) and see maritime artefacts and Spanish colonial buildings

The name “Ocho Rios” is a misnomer because there are not eight rivers in the area. It is most likely a British corruption of the original Spanish name “Las Chorreras” (“the waterfalls”), a name given to the village because of the nearby Dunn’s River Falls.

The north coast highway from the international airport at Montego Bay to Ocho Rios has been improved since 2000 and the journey is now an hour and 45-minute drive.

The Town has restaurants, nightclubs,  fisherman’s village, and Dolphin Cove, Dunn's River Falls, Mystic Mountain, and more attractions and entertainment facilities.

James Bond beach in the Parish of St. Mary, is known for the filming of Dr. No, the very first James Bond film, which was released in 1962. It was the home of Miss Taro, played by Zena Marshall, who was an adversary of Bond (Sean Connery) and in alliance with the main villain Dr. Julius No (Joseph Wiseman).

A 10-minute walk or a nifty cycle on our hireable bikes will take you into the heart of the Mammee Bay estate where the likes of Elizabeth Taylor had a holiday home. Access to the private beach which boasts a fantastic beach bar restaurant; Bamboo Blue is available to all our Guests. Aside from food and drink, why not indulge in a variety of water sports activities and fishing boat rides which are also available.

Park Lane 105 is a 5-minute drive to the famous Dunn’s River Falls, Mystic Mountains, and Dolphin Cove. Ocho Rios town is an additional 3 minutes and tourist attractions include restaurants, craft markets, nightclubs, and public beaches and much more. The newest addition is the large supermarket called Progressive where you can buy food and provisions.

Beyond the North coast, there is much to be explored on the Caribbean’s largest speaking island. Kingston is home to the Bob Marley museum and boasts wonderful places of interest such as Devon House famous for the best ice-cream in town and the Blue Mountains; renown for Blue Mountain coffee. Ricks Café in Negril is a great spot where people flock to see the amazing sunset, rum, and more rum can be found via the Appleton Estate Tour, splash in ‘Healing Water’ at Bath Fountain in Rockford, take a dip in the waterfalls at Dunn’s River Falls or check out Mystic Mountain for some Bobsledding.

There is so much to see and do we simply could not list everything but if relaxing is your idea of holiday heaven with a bit of adventure thrown in for good measure, then Jamaica is the place to visit!

Personal tours can be arranged on request during your stay or as part of a customized package.
